  1. 1.The girls started by tracing leaves and then coloring them in with creative colors and patterns.  We used watercolor paper for the added texture and thickness.

  2. 2. Next they cut out each leaf, building great fine motor skills.

  3. 3.Once the leaves were cut the girls wrote what they were thankful for. It was nice to see that one of the things our youngest daughter was thankful for was making leaves.

  4. 4.The last steps involved punching a hole, picking out a ribbon for each leaf and hanging them on a branch we found in our yard.

This is a project that can involve the whole family.  Sitting together around the craft table, drawing and talking about what we are grateful for, was a wonderful experience.  Our “thankful tree” brought a light & loving energy into our home and turned out to be the perfect Thanksgiving decoration.
