Baby Beluga
We have fallen in love with beluga whales! The whole relationship started with the song, Baby Beluga, which both of my daughters came home from school singing with all of their heart. Now, after being up close and personal with them at an aquarium we just took a road trip to, we are head over heels! Not only are they one of the most beautiful, powerful, creatures you have ever seen, they also have great personalities and value community.
Through our research we learned that beluga whales are considered to be an endangered species due to pollution and the whaling industry. I mentioned to the girls that I found an organization that would help protect them and that we could “adopt” a beluga whale family. My five year old followed up by asking some good questions. Do they get to live with us? What will they do to protect the Beluga Whales? I was able to find the answers to her questions here.
After more Q & A’s they decided to save money in order to adopt the beluga whale family. Next, they found a coin jar, made a sign for it and pledged to start collecting money for the cause. We will let you know when we reach the target amount.
