Monarch Caterpillars
Our Monarch Caterpillars are Here!
I loved having Monarch caterpillars in my classroom when I was teaching. To be able to witness the metamorphosis these tiny creatures go through is absolutely extraordinary!
This year we decided to raise Monarch caterpillars at home. We ordered them from a great organization called Monarch Watch and they just arrived in the mail yesterday. We collected milkweed leaves from our local CSA farm, tied a small square of netting onto a big vase and created a comfortable habitat for them to grow. They have really become a focal point for the family. The girls check in on them first thing when they wake up in the morning when they come home from school.
Over the next few weeks we will be posting different learning experiences that we have related to caterpillars and butterflies. We would also love to feature any butterfly activities you have experienced. What butterfly fun have you had?
