This Year’s Grateful Tree
Last year we started a family tradition of making a “thankful tree” to document all of the things that we are grateful for in our lives. This year’s tree is inspired by the beautiful leaves that we discovered over at Quince and Quire...

When the girls came home from school, they discovered: a large, bare branch in a vase, the pressed leaves that we collected on our trip Upstate, and a basket with Sharpie Paint Pens (fine tip—the extra fine tended to tear the leaves) in gold and silver, as well as a variety of gel pens. After they created their leaves, I used self-sealing pouches to “laminate” them, punched a hole in the top, and hung them on the branch with green ribbon.
The real leaves look so nice hanging from our grateful tree and when the light shines through them, it adds a beautiful array of color to the whole room. All of us have created and contributed leaves. I left the materials on the table so that, as we reflect throughout this week and next, we can continue to add the many things there are for us to be grateful for.
We also found a lovely book called Thanks for Thanksgiving, by Julie Markes, to compliment our experience this year.
