During a brief glimpse of sunshine, we seized the moment and planted our sunflower seeds for the The Great Sunflower Project. With over 26,000 participants they hope to gain insights on the patterns and needs of pollinators  in urban, suburban and rural settings. Participation is easy - simply plant sunflower seeds. Once they bloom, they ask that you observe in your garden for 30 minutes, two times per month - collecting data on the number and types of bees that land on your sunflowers.

The girls are very excited about doing research like real scientists and are ready with their clipboards and official data collection sheets - eagerly awaiting the growth of our sunflowers.
