It was one of those mornings - the sky turned a gloomy grey, the rain came down hard and the sound of thunder filled the air...

Luckily, we had just received Martha Stewart’s Cookies book the day before from our daughter’s wonderful kindergarten teacher (a thoughtful gift for being a class parent). Now, I do not consider myself the baking cookies type - however from the moment we received this book, cookies became the highlight of our discussions.  The girls went through the entire book and put sticky notes on their favorite recipes and any guest who happened to come by was greeted with the book and asked to choose their favorite as well.  Needless to say, I am slowly becoming the baking cookies type.

So - on this dark and dreary day we lit the candles, turned up our Beethoven mix on pandora and decided to make a bit of our own sunshine by baking peanut butter and jelly bars.  The process was fun and the results were delicious!
