We attached two fishing weights to the end of the flower with a rubber band. It is helpful to note that the weights help, although they do not keep the flower from rising in the water. It is important to hold the flower place with the rocks as well.

The girls selected their favorite pebbles and arranged them around the edges of the glass jar. We left a hole in the center for the flower. Once the flower was in place, we shook the jar so that the rocks around the edge fell into place, securing the flower.

We tried both bottled and tap water. We had much better results with bottled water. The tap water had a bit of a yellowish tinge and was not as clear. Next, we filled the jar with water leaving about a 1/2 an inch of air beneath the lid of the jar.

We are looking forward to trying out a variety of flowers with jars of different shapes and sizes.

Happy Arranging!
